So the blog’s been going steady(ish) for three months and over 79 posts so that’s good! In that time there’s 11 Facebook friends, a few steady commenters and followers, three solid movie requests submitted by readers like you, and in the last week the blog has cracked 100 views twice!
With that, I have noticed that readers aren’t enjoying my more recent reviews, I’m noting this by the reduced traffic, but that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere as there are days (with my school schedule) where I’m just not able to watch older movies and do them justice so the new reviews will keep up. Also, because I’m documenting my goal of 100 movies I’m seeing for the first time, that does include newer movies so hopefully I won’t be alienating my fanbase too much.
In the new week or two there are gonna be the return of some “themed” weeks. I started this blog with the My Month with Marilyn which is still searched for and receives a fair bit of traffic, even though it’s ended so people enjoy that. In honor of the Academy Awards on February 26th I will be devoting February 17th-26th to The Road to the Oscars with reviews of all nine of the Best Picture nominees and a final wrap-up after the winner is announced. The majority of those reviews are already written so you won’t be getting any lag there.
After that, I’m thinking of returning to another actor with eleven days devoted to the work of Jean Harlow! I got two box sets of Harlow’s films for Christmas and what better way to move ahead then by recapping the work of the blonde bombshell BEFORE Ms. Monroe?
That takes us through February and after that it’s up to the discretion of the fans! I have a few more box sets I can dole out over the new few months (The Thin Man and a set of Cary Grant movies). I have two reader requests left so those will be up. With that, I’ll try to post some polls to gauge reader interest but please, please, PLEASE, send in your suggestions on ANYTHING you want to see with this blog. Whether it’s a classic film, a film that’s new but classic to you, television movies, as long as it’s cinematic I’ll watch and review it! So email me, Facebook me, reply to this post or the “About Me” section with your ideas.
I’m humbled to have kept this blog going for three months (my last blogging experience petered out after a week), and with the traffic I get on certain days and the emails from readers, it propels me to keep this going. Thanks everyone and keep reading!
I'm a college student getting my Master's in English, but dreams of getting an additional degree in Film. I'm a movie reviewer for several sites, but I also write classic film reviews for several other sites. I stretch myself pretty thin these days. You can usually find me at a bookstore, or a movie theater. I dream of the day when the two are combined. I base a lot of my friendships on favorite movies.
