A brief news segment this week discussing a few upcoming Blu-ray/DVD releases you might want to save; we have some stuff from Olive Films, Warner Archive, and 20th Century Fox!
Olive Films: There’s always something new from Olive and this week they’ve announced the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray for Shack Out on 101. The film noir stars Terry Moore as a waitress who discovers her workplace is a hotbed for spies. The film will be newly remastered in its original aspect ratio of 1.78:1. There’s no talk of bonus content. You can purchase Shack Out on 101 on September 24th.
Warner Archive: A rather small output of classic film related stuff from Warner Archive this week. The only movie worth mentioning is Marion Davies and Bing Crosby in Going Hollywood. They have a slew of pre-Codes now up on Warner Archive Instant, so if you aren’t into this week’s offerings of DVDs, you might want to considering signing up for Instant. Remember, all Warner Archive DVDs are manufactured on demand and generally don’t contain bonus content.
20th Century Fox: And finally from Fox are two sci-fi adventures worth purchasing. On October 8th, you can own both Fantastic Voyage and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea on Blu-ray. Bonus content on each will be carried overfrom previous DVD releases. I haven’t seen Fantastic Voyage, but it’s on my Must-Watch list. The content from Fox has been amazing in terms of releasing genre fare. Let’s hope they keep it up!
That’s all from the Lake for this week! See you next Wednesday with more news!
I'm a college student getting my Master's in English, but dreams of getting an additional degree in Film. I'm a movie reviewer for several sites, but I also write classic film reviews for several other sites. I stretch myself pretty thin these days. You can usually find me at a bookstore, or a movie theater. I dream of the day when the two are combined. I base a lot of my friendships on favorite movies.
