Will you be in the New York area October 22nd?  Even if you aren’t, you should still check out the encore performance of Garbo Dreams!  I reported a few weeks back about this new stage show lifting the curtain on Garbo’s life, and it appears another performance will be put on.  If you live in the New York area the show will be performed at MASQ, two blocks from Garbo’s home.  If you don’t live in New York, keep this handy UStream link around as the show will be livestreamed along with a live Q&A with show creator Lauren LoGiudice.  If anyone is in the area and interested let me know!  The show will be streaming live next Tuesday at 8pm Eastern.  Here’s the link to watch live.

In August, I reported on Olive Films releasing Cry Danger, Young at Heart and The Bamboo Saucer on Blu-ray and DVD.  The original release date supposed to be October, but after delays which propelled the release to January 21st, 2014, they’ve settled on a release date of April 8th, 2014.  It’s rumored issues with the restoration process are responsible for the delay.  If you’re dying to get your hands on these releases, sadly you’ll have to wait a few more months.

TCM: New from TCM films is The John Ford Collection!  As part of a collaborative effort with the Film Foundation and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, The John Ford Collection will include five films from the director’s later years at Columbia: The Long Gray Line (1955), Gideon’s Day (1958), The Last Hurrah (1958), Two Rode Together (1961) and The Whole Town’s Talking (1935).  Bonus content will include an introduction from historian/critic Leonard Maltin, biographical information on Ford, scene stills, behind-the-scenes photos, movie posters, and lobby cards.  The set is set for exclusive release via the TCM Vault Collection at shop.tcm.com; it’s available for purchase now.

Milestone Films: Finally, Milestone Films will be putting out a DVD release of the documentary, Baby Peggy: The Elephant in the Room.  TCM showed this last December and it made my TCM Top 12 for the month; unfortunately, I missed it.  The 55-minute documentary will include Peggy’s feature film Captain January from 1924, as well as three additional Baby Peggy shorts: Carmen Jr. (1923), Peg o’ the Mounted (1924), and Such is Life (1924).  The documentary hits shelves November 5th.
