It’s Margaret Rutherford’s world and we’re just living in it… our Ticklish Business content just doesn’t show it.
I initially stumbled onto Rutherford’s movies during the year that was 2020 and I absolutely fell in love with her work. When I grow up, my aim is to be Margaret Rutherford as Miss. Marple. She’s vivacious, bright, charming, witty and intelligent. This star persona shines through in so many of her roles and truthfully, her work should be far better known! Get busy watching!
A Career in Review:
If You Only Watch One:
I’m going to cheat here. If you’re going to watch anything in the TCM programming today, make sure it is Rutherford’s multi-film run as Miss. Marple. I will admit, I wasn’t a Miss. Marple fan as I sat down to watch these. In fact, I’ve always found her a bit boring. Au contraire, gentle readers! (At least in these movies). The films (Murder She Said, Murder Most Foul, Murder at the Gallop and Murder Ahoy) hit during the primetime hour (between 8:00pm and 1:00am EST). These four films are the reason I fell in love with her work and I know others will too! Mystery fans, Anglophiles, and anyone looking for a fun, gentle “who done it” should add these to their list.
